Updated: Victim Escapes Attempted Assault at Oakville High School

The assault happened at 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

Police have released the description of a man who attempted to assault a 17-year-old female student at . 

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet, 7 inches to 6-foot and 160-180 pounds with some facial hair. He was wearing a hoodie and white shorts.

At approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday night, the victim was grabbed and dragged toward a building that houses the restrooms on the school's campus, said Officer Rick Eckhard with the St. Louis County Police. 

"At that time, she fought and screamed and broke away," Eckhard said. Police have been working overnight and will continue the investigation.

The female student at Oakville was dragged behind a building near the school around 10 p.m. Wednesday. She was able to get away. 

Police are unclear about the intent of the attack and the K-9 and helicopter units were brought in to search for the suspect.
