Here is a random tidbit: the Weimaraner is the official dog of the St. Louis Blues. While this in no way is an actual fact, it sure seems that way at TWB. Half of the Weimeraners that come to play at TWB sport Blues collars, while the other ones wear blue-colored collars. Coincidence? I think not. The Weimaraners of The Watering Bowl are predicting a successful playoff season, and expecting Lord Stanley to make his appearance in St. Louis for the first time ever this year. Listen to the Weimaraners; they know what they are talking about when it comes to hockey!
The Weimaraner is a very special breed. They are high-energy, and if they don’t have an outlet for that energy, they will create an outlet (ie, eating shoes, destroying pillows, getting into the trashcan, etc.). Every Weimaraner owner is probably nodding their head in agreement. This must be why TWB has so many Weimaraners!
One Weimaraner in particular comes every day to TWB, even on the holidays. It just wouldn’t be a day at TWB without Chandler, and for that reason, Chandler is this week’s Pooch of the Week. Chandler, a goofy-faced, lanky, 2-year-old Weim is quite the character. His favorite activities include hunting for shadows, staring out the window, and getting into a lot of mischief.

At least once a week, Chandler’s mom shares some of his antics with TWB staff. Whether it's eating all the cat hair she swept up, ripping a hole in a trash bag to get to some chicken bones, or stealing the family's socks, nothing is a surprise when it comes to Chandler.
Chandler is often compared to Marley in Marley and Me. Much like the yellow Lab in the book, Chandler can get into so much trouble, yet it is impossible not to love him; there is just something about him. He can drive you mad one minute, and then make you laugh the next. Life is always an adventure with Chandler, and that is why everyone that meets him, loves him.

There is no way to sugarcoat it; Weimaraners are high-energy dogs. However, with daily exercise, (like frequent visits to TWB) a Weimaraner can be a wonderful addition to any family. If you think you have what it takes to be a Weimaraner parent, visit Wonder Weims. Wonder Weims is a non-profit, no-kill rescue group that is dedicated to rescuing Weimaraners in Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Illinois. Check them out; who knows, maybe your newest family member is waiting for you there!
