Whiz Kid: Future Trader Helps Stock Team Win Big

This week’s Whiz Kid is Spencer Dorlac, a stock-picking whiz who enjoys playing soccer, basketball, volleyball and golf. He is also quite the book worm and cites Literature as his favorite class.

Year in School: Eighth grade

Accomplishment: Spencer Dorlac helped lead the team to place fifth out of 742 teams in the state during the Missouri Stock Market Game, held this past spring.

Key to Awesomeness: During his STRETCH class, Dorlac worked alongside his peers to pick stocks they thought were winners during the state-wide Stock Market Game. Dorlac suggested Buffalo Wild Wings after seeing their commercial during the Superbowl game.

“The hardest part of the game was making sure my team won,” Dorlac said.

Dorlac’s efforts helped catapult his team to first place in the regional division and fifth in the state.

Dorlac enjoyed hanging out with his friends while learning about stocks.

“I hope someday I’ll pick my own stocks, because I did learn how to manage money and work together,” he said.
