• Peggy's Beauty Shop to close after 38 years (mystandardnews.com) — Peggy's Beauty Shop on the north side of Montgomery City is closing its doors at 5 p.m. today after 38 years, as owner Lou Claussen retires. Regulars have filled the final day with appointments, and Claussen is clearing out equipment from the North Sturgeon building now owned by the city for its police station and City Hall.
• Advocacy group can continue to challenge data centers being built in Montgomery County, judge rules (nemonews.net) — Residents of Montgomery City may feel ripple effects from a judge's decision allowing advocacy group Preserve Montgomery County to keep challenging massive Google and Amazon data centers planned near New Florence. The lawsuit claims the county failed to fully inform the public about water, electricity, and tax abatement details, while one funding-related claim against the state was dismissed.
• Jerry Adkison, Sr. 1963-2026 (gasconadecountyrepublican.com) — Family and friends in Montgomery City are among those mourning the passing of 63-year-old Jerry Joe Adkison Sr., whose daughter Marsha Layton lives in town. The Owensville resident, remembered for his faith and love of family trips, died Sept. 26, with graveside services held today in Marmaduke, Arkansas.
