• 2 firefighters recovering after being injured in O'Fallon, Mo house fire (firstalert4.com) — Two firefighters are recovering after being hurt battling a Sunday afternoon house fire on Boatside Court in O'Fallon, with one briefly hospitalized after a garage ceiling collapse. Wentzville Fire crews contained the blaze in about 30 minutes, heavily damaging the second floor but saving the first floor and basement. Officials expect both injured firefighters to fully recover.
   

• Hannibal drops heartbreaker to St. Dominic (whig.com) — A late touchdown in O'Fallon lifted St. Dominic to a 29–26 win over Hannibal, spoiling the Pirates' comeback after they briefly took the lead with four minutes left. Hannibal's coach praised his shorthanded, injury-hit team's resilience but lamented missed stops in the fourth quarter. Hannibal now prepares for a road game at Festus on Oct. 9.
