Greene County Sheriff issues Endangered Person Advisory for missing Willard man (ky3.com) — Law enforcement in the Springfield area has issued an Endangered Person Advisory for 26-year-old Haydn Conner Precht, a Willard man last seen Thursday after making suicidal comments and possibly carrying a handgun. Greene County residents, especially around Willard and Springfield, are urged to call 911 or the sheriff's office with any sightings or information.
2. $5 million investment to address Springfield neighborhood concerns beginning this fall (ky3.com) — Springfield is moving ahead with a $5 million Neighborhood Works+ investment to tackle traffic calming, pedestrian safety, drainage, and beautification projects across city neighborhoods starting this fall. City staff and residents have worked together to prioritize improvements, with final recommendations headed to the Spring Forward SGF sales tax board and some construction expected to begin within months.
3. On Your Side: Missouri Attorney General investigating Illinois tree-trimming service accused of poor business practices (ky3.com) — Two Springfield homeowners say an Illinois-based tree service left them with large bills and liens after 2025 storm cleanup, prompting a Missouri Attorney General investigation. Springfield-area residents are urged to verify contractors, get multiple written estimates, and be wary of high-pressure door-to-door offers after severe weather.
4. Inside the 'ultra modern' mosque being built for a new generation in Springfield (sgfcitizen.org) — A longtime Springfield resident is nearing completion of American Momin Park, a new west Springfield mosque and cemetery designed as an "ultra modern" space for local Muslims and neighbors. The project, funded largely from personal sacrifice and small donations, aims to add a Muslim cemetery, future school, and community center while helping attract more professionals and families to Springfield.
5. Springfield IBEW preps for large apprenticeship class amid growing demand for electricians (ozarksfirst.com) — Springfield's IBEW Local 435 is gearing up for a record 85 electrical apprentices this September, reflecting strong local and statewide demand for electricians. Leaders say the Springfield JATC program is expanding quickly and expect infrastructure needs and even AI growth to keep these skilled trade jobs in high demand for years to come.
