Part of a two-week, $800,000 city project funded by the transportation sales tax, the work aims to extend pavement life, so officials urge extra travel time and close attention to posted detours.
2. Marionville woman seriously hurt after motorcycle goes airborne in Taney County (ozarksfirst.com) — A Marionville couple was hurt when their three-wheeled motorcycle left Missouri Route 125 near Rueter, went airborne and hit a tree, sending the 74-year-old passenger by Life Flight to Mercy Hospital Springfield with serious injuries. The 78-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Mercy Springfield, with both riders reported to have been using safety devices.
3. Classic car show in Springfield raises money for veterans (ky3.com) — Springfield car enthusiasts just wrapped up a local car, truck, and bike show that raised money for veterans' groups, including the American Legion and Wreaths for Warriors. Organized by the Pharaohs Car Club of Springfield, the event continues a tradition that has generated more than $50,000 for Ozarks charities since 2020, highlighting how local hobbyists support area veterans.
4. Inside Missouri's 'African Queen': $1.2 Million Short-Term Rental Features a 15-Foot Zulu Warrior (lmtonline.com) — A highly unusual Springfield short-term rental known as the African Queen, complete with a 15-foot Zulu warrior sculpture and lavish global decor, is on the market for about $1.2 million. The 1960s Ozark retreat sits above a private lake with spring-fed ponds, waterfalls, and gardens, and could continue as a vacation rental or be reimagined as a hospitality or nature retreat.
5. Top Cardinals prospect Rainiel Rodriguez earns prestigious award from Baseball America (redbirdrants.com) — Springfield Cardinals fans just watched top prospect Rainiel Rodriguez turn heads in town, and now Baseball America has named him the Cardinals' Minor League Player of the Year. After his promotion to Double-A Springfield, the 19-year-old slugger dominated at the plate and is now being talked about as a potential St. Louis call-up as early as next season.
