For the third consecutive year, U.S. Cellular associates in mid-Missouri have helped extend the reach of Operation: Veteran Smiles (OVS), a program created by teenager Amelia Day to bring smiles and basic necessities to veterans. In advance of Veterans Day, local associates recently packed 80 personal care packages, included notes of appreciation and hand-delivered them to patients at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital.

“Our associates are committed to, and take pride in, creating strong connections with the local community,” said Nakeita Stewart, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Missouri and a Columbia resident. “OVS is one of the many ways we honor those who have served our country and demonstrate our appreciation for them.”

For the last two years, U.S. Cellular has reached more than 8,000 veterans across the country through this initiative. To learn more about OVS, please go to https://operationveteransm.wixsite.com/ovs1.
