Josh Harrellson to be Honored at Annual St. Charles High/St. Charles West Basketball Tourney

Josh Harrellson, a 2007 graduate of St. Charles High School, just completed his college basketball career with the University of Kentucky. Harrellson gained national prominence this spring during the NCAA Tournament as he led the Wildcats to the East Regional Championship and a berth in the Final Four. During tournament play, Josh was named to the All-East Regional Tournament Team. He has also started his own line of athletic and leisure clothing called “Jorts.”

Earlier this year, Harrellson was drafted in the second round of the NBA draft to play for the New York Knicks.  Local officials at St. Charles High and the city of St. Charles have orchestrated a recognition event to honor him during the annual St. Charles High – St. Charles West Turkey Tipoff.  In attendance will be Senator Tom Dempsey, District 23, Mayor Sally Faith and County Executive Steve Ehlmann.

This year’s Turkey Day Tournament will take place at Lindenwood University in St. Charles.  This is an annual event which pits St. Charles West and St. Charles High in a very competitive game between the boys and girls JV and Varsity teams.  The ceremony recognizing Harrellson will take place just prior to the Boy’s Varsity Game.  Join us in this home town effort to highlight a local student who has made significant strides in the world of sports and business. Josh will speak at 8 p.m. between the girls and boys Varsity games.
