St. Charles County Historical Society Quarterly Luncheon
Luncheon $15 and history
Speaker Dorris Keeven-Franke will share the story of German writer Gottfried Duden, who lived in Missouri in 1824,25,26 & 27 and returned to Germany to publish A Report on A Journey to the Western States of North America. This book, with its glowing descriptions of this area, caused thousands of Germans to emigrate to St. Charles in the early 19th Century, bringing the German culture St. Charles County.
