Explore the art style of noted artist and children’s author Faith Ringgold through her world famous story quilt artworks. In this two-part workshop, student artists will create their own story quilts on muslin cloth showing a story about a personal memory. Under the instruction of Shelley Geiger, young artists will use watercolor paint, a variety of drawing media, block printing techniques, embellishments, plus needle and thread on these one of a kind story quilts. Finished quilt pieces will make a colorful wall hanging full of eye-catching patterns and images that will bring special meaning to the art.
This special two-part workshop is March 3 and 10, 2012 from 10am-12pm each Saturday. The workshop is open to students in grades 4-8 and is $35/Foundry Art Centre member or $40/non-member.
