"Impact" Exhibition and Opening Reception
Three new exhibitions open at the Foundry Art Centre on March 18, 2016.

The Foundry Art Centre is pleased to announce the opening of three new exhibitions beginning March 18, 2016. In Gallery I and II, Impact examines the motivations behind an artist’s need to create. All artwork in Impact was juried by St. Louis’ Jane Sauer. Sauer is one of America’s finest fiber artists; her woven sculptures reside in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC, the Saint Louis Art Museum, and the American Craft Museum in New York. Impact’s opening reception is Friday, March 18 beginning with Jane Sauer’s gallery talk at 5:30pm.
Alongside Impact, sculptural artist J. Casey Doyle, award winner from the Foundry Art Centre’s 2014 exhibition Fiber Fever, will exhibit his playful and intriguing artwork in Gallery III. Doyle’s work often portrays objects using unlikely media, such as curling ribbon, and explores the themes of gender and the concept of play. Linda Wilson’s tintype photography exhibition will be on display in the Ameristar Gallery as part of the Emerging Artist series.
Enjoy food and drinks while chatting with Impact’s participating artists at the opening reception Friday, March 18 from 5:30pm – 8:00pm, and be sure to head to the mezzanine level to visit with the Foundry Art Centre studio artists. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. All three of these exhibitions will open Friday, March 18 and close Friday, April 29, 2016. Financial assistance for these exhibitions is provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
