St. Charles County Councilman Jerry Daugherty Files for Re-Election

Filing for St. Charles County elected positions opened Tuesday at the St. Charles County Election Authority in St. Peters with no surprises.

County Council seats for districts 2, 4 and 6 are on the ballot starting with the August primary and then the November election. Incumbent Joe Brazil, a Republican, filed in District 2 and Jerry Daugherty, the only incumbent Democrat on the council, filed in District 6.

St. Charles is represented by districts 6, 5 and 3.

No one filed on the first day for District 4, the seat held by Republican Paul Wynn. He currently is working in Afghanistan due to his job as a military contractor.

Wynn has participated in county council meetings via phone and has voted on emergency bills and voice votes. Elected officials are prohibited by Missouri law from voting in roll call votes unless they are physically present at the meeting.

There was some confusion in township boundaries, as the St. Charles County Council just . The maps weren’t available immediately Tuesday morning, and some candidates had to withdraw candidacy in one township to file in another area.
