St. Charles, Mo. (October 7, 2013)βOne of the Yβs commitments is to develop the potential of our communityβs youth and itβs doing just that through its St. Charles childcare center. This month marks the one-year anniversary of its newest childcare site, the YMCA Elm Point Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC).
The Yβs ECEC welcomes children from six weeks to six years old and currently has 117 children enrolled. During the past year, the Y has added a third infant room and gardens in some of the age-specific playgrounds. The center recently received a license to expand the number of children it serves to 148. The ECEC currently has spaces available for three, four and five-year olds.
Β βOver the past year, weβve enjoyed seeing our families watch their children grow and thrive in our program,β said Julie Aiken, director of the YMCA Elm Point ECEC. βWeβre excited about our recent updates and are looking to welcome even more families.β

The ECEC is the result of merging the St. Charles County Family YMCA Early Childhood Education Center and the Elm Point Early Childhood Education Center, a process that happened last October.Β The center also is home to a Y-Club site for Orchard Farms students. Y Club provides before and after-school care for children ages five to 12.
As the largest provider of child care in the state of Missouri, the Y provides a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn, grow and develop social skills for life.Β Through Project Construct Curriculum, the Y believes that children learn through play and structured educational activities based around our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.Β
