Man taken into custody after medics reportedly held at gunpoint; 2 St. Louis officers hurt in crash while responding (ksdk.com) — Early Sunday in south St. Louis, a man allegedly held medics at gunpoint near South Grand and Magnolia before being taken into custody, and two responding officers were hurt when another vehicle collided with their police SUV on Chouteau. One officer required surgery but is stable, while the other and the civilians suffered non-life-threatening injuries as investigations continue.
2. Fallen power pole leaves north St. Louis homeowner without answers on who's responsible (firstalert4.com) — A north St. Louis homeowner is stuck with a fallen Ameren-owned power pole in his backyard, while telecom companies reportedly haven't removed their lines so repairs can proceed. He's worried about flickering electricity, possible live wires on his fence, and losing power during the hot Labor Day weekend, and is urging Spectrum and AT&T to respond more quickly.
3. The business of educating black parents, teachers and kids (stlamerican.com) — A longtime St. Louis educator has built U&I-RISE, a Black family-focused parenting and classroom-management business now working with districts like Ferguson-Florissant and St. Louis Public Schools. Her programs, including required workshops at Pamoja Preparatory Academy, aim to strengthen parental authority, improve student behavior, and support teachers, while she expands her African-centered courses and books online.
4. St. Louis CITY SC Extends Unbeaten Streak With 3-1 Victory Over Vancouver Whitecaps (collinsvilledailynews.com) — St. Louis CITY SC just stretched its unbeaten run to 14 matches with a 3-1 road win over Western Conference–leading Vancouver, keeping the club firmly in playoff contention. The team now sits fifth in the West and heads to Portland on Wednesday night, giving St. Louis fans another key late-season matchup to watch.
