Metro Transit announces pilot program for single-car MetroLink trains (firstalert4.com) — Metro Transit is testing single-car MetroLink trains on both the Red and Blue lines starting October 3, a move that could change daily rides for many St. Louis commuters. The phased pilot, running through spring 2027, aims to save money without overcrowding trains, and officials are asking riders to share feedback to shape the final decision.
2. Area hospitals receive top local, statewide ratings (westnewsmagazine.com) — If you need hospital care in St. Louis, new U.S. News & World Report rankings put Barnes-Jewish and Missouri Baptist at the top locally and statewide, with Mercy and St. Luke's close behind. These hospitals earned numerous "High Performing" ratings in adult procedures and conditions, giving residents clearer guidance when choosing where to seek specialized treatment.
3. Thousands pack St. Louis weekend festivals even amidst late-summer heat wave (kmov.com) — St. Louis residents have two big free festivals to enjoy today despite the lingering heat, with the Greater St. Louis Hispanic Festival filling Soulard Park and the St. Louis Art Fair drawing crowds in downtown Clayton. Organizers are adding shade, misting fans, cooling stations, and refillable water to keep visitors safe while they explore food, music, art, and family activities.
4. See where these balloons landed after the Balloon Race in Forest Park (kmov.com) — Colorful balloons that launched from Forest Park on Saturday afternoon drifted across St. Louis before landing in city neighborhoods, including near St. Louis and Cora avenues and by Leduc and Marcus. Viewer photos show one balloon touching down safely and another snagging in a tree, offering a close-up look at where the popular race finished for some pilots.
5. St. Louis City extend unbeaten run to 16 with win over Toronto (statenews.net) — St. Louis City SC delighted home fans by stretching their MLS unbeaten run to 16 matches with a 3-1 win over Toronto FC, powered by goals from Carlo Holse, Tomas Totland, and Simon Becher. Strong performances from Alexandru Matan and Conrad Wallem helped City dominate, while goalkeeper Roman Burki narrowly missed a clean sheet after a late Toronto consolation goal.
