Board Of Aldermen President Reed Statement On Body Camera Approval In St. Louis

Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed voted to finally approve a body camera vendor contract after nearly six years of pressure on the administration.

“It’s been 2,139 days since the death of Mike Brown. A situation that occurred in our own backyard and spurred the body camera conversation. After years of pushing, I was elated to finally vote in favor of a contract for body cameras. We’ve been asking for these for years. They will be beneficial to not only our officers, but they will also rebuild community trust,” said Reed.

The contract for BodyWorn Camera and Vehicle Video & Communication Systems is to support a total of 800 officers and 200 vehicles for 60 months to include all hardware, software licenses, data storage/retrieval, warranty, support, initial installation and training.
