Bring Health Equipment You Don't Need to Recycling Extravaganza

St. Louis, Missouri…Bring home health equipment that you don’t need to The St. Louis Health Equipment Lending Program (St. Louis HELP) at the Earth Day Recycling Extravaganza. The event will take place at St. Louis Community College–Forest Park on Sunday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
St. Louis HELP will be at Booth #17 at St. Louis Community College–Forest Park, 5600 Oakland Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110. Directions: Turn south off of Oakland onto Macklind Avenue, drive to Wise Avenue then turn right to Parking Lot A.
“For no charge, we will accept almost any type of home medical equipment that people no longer need – canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, hospital beds, scooters and more,” said Laura Cannon Singer, founder and executive director of St. Louis HELP.

St. Louis HELP is a not-for-profit organization founded in 2008 that serves more than 10,000 people a year in metro St. Louis by providing free loans of home medical equipment that children, adults and seniors suffering from accidents, illness or disabilities desperately need.
St. Louis HELP staff and volunteers clean and revitalize donated home medical items, and then loans the items for free to anyone – there’s no cost or obligation.

Last year St. Louis HELP prevented about 150 tons of material from being dumped in landfills – including home items that that were loaned; items sent to needy organizations in other countries; and broken parts recycled by the organization.
St. Louis HELP’s free lending warehouse is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 am to 2:30 pm in the St. Louis suburb of Olivette. Loans of home health equipment are free to anyone, including caregivers. The Recycling Extravaganza brings together 20 different collectors of recyclable materials to one site for public convenience and appropriate disposal. It is a one-stop shop to responsibly recycle electronics, carpeting, school supplies, Mardi Gras beads, clothing and more. In 2017 the event collected 31 tons from 700 vehicles during the four-hour event.
