Experience a powerful performance by the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus under the direction of Philip Barnes as part of our Voices of Change series.
The season climaxes with a series of works advocating for equality between genders and races, and it champions new additions to the choral repertoire. No fewer than six of the works on the program have been written in the past ten years, culminating in a world premiere from Maria Granillo, our new ‘Composer-in-Residence,’ who teaches at the National University of Mexico. We have chosen a venue fitting this celebration of female artists, as The Link Auditorium started out life as The Wednesday Club of St. Louis, which had been created for a study group of women eager to educate themselves beyond the chauvinist walls of many schools in St. Louis. Artists like Sara Teasdale visited here, so it’s fitting that the chorus sings Howard Helvey’s madrigals that set her verses.
 This concert celebrates equal representation through song, featuring tickets at $40 for general admission and $10 for students. Join this renowned ensemble for an afternoon of exceptional musicianship at the historic Link Auditorium on Sunday, May 31 at 3pm

He has toured across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and China, bringing his signature blend of warmth and humour to breathtaking, genre-bending live performances. Carroll made his musical debut at age two as a banjo- strumming cowboy singing nursery rhymes, and went on to earn a 1st Class Honours Degree in Composition and Guitar from the famed Trinity College of Music in London. Upon graduation, he was taken on the road by the legendary “folk-baroque” pioneer, guitarist-composer John Renbourn, with whom he also collaborated over many years. He has also worked with guitar greats such as John Williams, D'Gary, Tommy Emmanuel, Xuefei Yang, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, and Ralph Towner. Irish singer-songwriter Colm Keegan has made an indelible mark on the global music scene as a principal performer in the esteemed group Celtic Thunder. Since joining the ensemble in 2011, his collaboration has been part of the success of three Celtic Thunder DVDs and four chart-topping CDs, consistently reaching the #1 spot on the Billboard World Music Chart. Brian McGrane is a singer-songwriter from the small Irish town of Navan. Having toured the world extensively over the past 5 years from the 3 Arena in his home town of Dublin to Radio City in New York, he is currently concentrating on a new album of original music. He led the church choir at age 7, formed his own rock band at age 12, and at 22 toured as piano player and backing vocalist for the renowned Celtic Woman. He has produced songs for Connie Talbot (Britain’s Got Talent) and Chloë Agnew (Celtic Woman), while his own music has been widely streamed in Ireland and the States. VINCEN GARCÍA is a Spanish bassist from Valencia, acclaimed as one of the most prestigious figures in the modern jazz and funk scene worldwide. He has over 14 years of professional experience, having developed a distinctive, modern sound marked by energetic and gritty execution.
Born into a musical family—his mother a vocalist and his father a trumpeter—Vincen was introduced to performance and touring at an early age. He began playing bass in his high school band and developed his craft entirely as a self-taught musician
Vincen is among the most listened-to bassists globally in terms of streaming, amassing hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of views and reactions. Additionally, he has been one of the most impactful artists in the genre, performing at festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), the North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), or the Pori Jazz Festival (Finland). His first album, titled *Ventura*, is received an overwhelmingly positive reception in cities around the world. Vincen García also collaborates on tours with international artists like Cory Wong and Jesús Molina. The artist will present his second album in 2026 with a world tour that will span every continent.

Did you see Mathis Picard accompanying Cyrille Aimée here in March? Wow! One of the complete breakthrough debut piano performances ever at Blue Strawberry. His future looks to be unlimited, and we are proud to get him back on June 3 for his own solo show. He brings an infectious energy, spirit and humor to his astonishing technical skills.
Born and raised in France, with formative years in Madagascar, and now based in New York City, Mathis honors his background by merging all those musical influences. Named “A Rising Star” by The Scotsman, Mathis is an ASCAP Next Generation of Songwriters Recipient, a member of the Montreux Jazz Foundation, and an alumnus of The Juilliard School, where he was mentored by Kenny Barron. WhatsOnStage has described Mathis as a “knockout, as dynamic a personality as he is virtuosic on the keys.”
Mathis has had the honor of working with artists such as Ron Carter, Lillias White, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Andre DeSheilds, Cyrille Aimée, Lee Ritenour, Daniel J Watts, Herlin Riley, DJ Kindness, Braxton Cook, Veronica Swift, Etienne Charles and many more.

Tom McDermott is one of New Orleans’ premiere piano players and composers - a modern day keeper of the city’s piano lineage.
Born in 1957 and raised right here in St. Louis, where he earned a Masters’ Degree in Music, wrote music journalism for the Globe Democrat, and soaked up the sounds of ragtime and traditional jazz that flourished here in the 1960s and 70s. In 1984, spurred by his love of James Booker, Professor Longhair and Dr. John, he moved to New Orleans, a trip enabled by a gig at the World’s Fair.
Tom’s tastes are eclectic - he’s just about the only New Orleans pianist to stretch from the mid-19th-century music of Louis Moreau Gottschalk to the funky New Orleans piano today. He has a great love of Brazilian music (17 trips there so far), the Beatles, European classical music, and early Duke Ellington. He has performed with New Orleans heroes Pete Fountain, Irma Thomas and Gatemouth Brown. He co-founded and arranged for the Grammy award-winning brass band, the New Orleans Nightcrawlers. His performances with The Dukes of Dixieland placed him in Carnegie Hall, Germany, Denmark, Peru, Japan, and much of America. His music has been praised by The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times. He has recorded 17 albums as a leader; these recordings include 85 original tunes. His music has been heard frequently on NPR, i.e. “All Things Considered”, “American Routes”, and “The Moth.” A group he co-led with clarinetist Evan Christopher, the Danza Quartet, appeared on NPR’s New Year’s Eve show “Toast of the Nation” on 2008-2009. Tom has written for the theatre (the Obie-award-winning off-Broadway show, “Nita and Zita”), and appeared in bit roles in the movies (“He Said She Said”). In the New Orleans-based HBO series “Treme,” he played himself five times in three seasons and had 10 pieces of music used on the soundtrack.
