Here are the top stories in St. Louis today:
- A second-grader at a St. Louis elementary school was found with a loaded handgun on school grounds on Friday. St. Louis Public Schools said the weapon was found during recess when a teacher at Pamoja Preparatory Academy picked up on "unusual behavior." An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with no criminal charges being considered, and school administrators are asking parents and guardians to make sure all firearms in their homes are secure and kept away from children. - A St. Louis city counselor has given the OK to a ward redistricting plan proposed by a Board of Aldermen committee. The chief attorney for the city government on Tuesday said the plan "would withstand any legal challenge" based on federal voting rights law. Aldermanic President Lewis Reed, who had requested the review, called the opinion "a major step forward in the process to final passage of the map." (Subscription: STLtoday.com)
- Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was found dead in south St. Louis last week in the 7800 block of Germania Avenue. (KSDK)

- St. Louis Police Officer Brad Stephens pleaded guilty on Monday to three counts of mail fraud after he lied on his timesheets and bilked his employer and city taxpayers of tens of thousands of dollars over a two-year period. (Fox2)
