First, today's weather:
Periods of sun; breezy, mild. High: 62 Low: 58.
Here are the top three stories today in St. Louis:
- Letters and photos once owned by legendary East St. Louis dancer and activist, Katherine Dunham, are going to be auctioned off on Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. In the 1960s, Dunham came to East St. Louis where she founded the SIUE's East St. Louis Center for the Performing Arts, the Katherine Dunham Museum, and the Children's Workshop. Anyone interested in the online bidding auction can get involved by calling or emailing Selkirk Auctioneers & Appraisers, then registering online via its website or through platforms like Invaluable or LiveAuctioneers.(Journal Gazette and Times-Courier)
- A transplant team braved a winter storm to deliver donor lungs to a St. Louis patient. The team at Barnes-Jewish Hospital only had six to eight hours to get the donor lungs from Chicago to St. Louis, and could not fly their small charter plane through the storm. The team then asked Southwest Airlines to do the impossible — get them on the only flight that was leaving that morning. Thankfully, they were able to deliver the lungs with minutes to spare. - On Saturday night at around 8:15 p.m., two men were shot near E & J Package Liquor store. It is unclear where the victims were shot or how old they were, but both were conscious and breathing after the incident. (KMOV.com)
