Let's Get Medicare to Finally Cover Alzheimer's Blood Test through the ASAP Act.

Alzheimer's can be detected by just a blood test, but Medicare doesn't cover it. Let's urge our senators to pass the ASAP Act to fix this.

A little-known fact is that Alzheimer’s disease kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. With one in three seniors dying with Alzheimer's or another dementia, it is one of the leading causes of death in the United States.

Thankfully, a simple blood test was recently developed to detect Alzheimer’s before symptoms appear — a scientific milestone that should be changing lives for the better.

However, under current law, Medicare does not cover any dementia screening test for people without symptoms — a legal barrier only Congress can fix.

Thankfully, our Senators Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt can help the people of Missouri and across the country benefit from early detection of Alzheimer’s.

The bipartisan ASAP Act allows Medicare coverage of FDA-approved blood tests that detect Alzheimer’s biomarkers. More than 9 in 10 Americans say they want a simple test for Alzheimer’s, and this bill ensures they do not face unnecessary barriers to early diagnosis.
