Memory Support to Open at Ascension Living Sherbrooke Village
Personalized memory support services that meet the needs of families in the St. Louis area

This Spring, Ascension Living Sherbrooke Village, located at 4005 Ripa Ave. in St. Louis, will be adding assisted living memory support services to the senior living campus.
“More people than ever before are experiencing memory loss,” said Freddy England, Executive Director, Ascension Living Sherbrooke Village. “And for many families that means another family member, or several, are caring for their loved ones. We are committed to providing compassionate, personalized memory support services that meet the needs of seniors in the St. Louis area.”
The newly renovated Memory Support wing is designed around what is familiar and comforting to residents with dementia – all in a cottage-like setting. From color choices to noise control, lighting, table designs and room layouts, everything was taken into consideration to honor each resident’s unique needs. The new wing offers 18 private apartments.

The specially designed program and renovated space will support the entire family, not just the resident. Before a resident is admitted, the team gets to know the family’s loved ones so the team can develop tailored care and support. Support plans will help residents feel in control of their days, choosing which services they want and when they wish them to be delivered.
The Dignified Dining program will help ensure that each resident’s dining experience meets their unique needs. Residents also benefit from specialized technology that allows them to get in touch with loved ones via one-touch video calls, connect with residents who share similar interests, and build a digital personal profile of their favorite content from a library of thousands of topics, videos, games and more.

All associates at Ascension Living Sherbrooke Village who engage with memory loss residents and their families participate in advanced training. The experiential training helps the team deliver the right care and support for residents to meet their unique physical, emotional, social and sensory needs. It also provides associates a unique “inside-out” look at what it’s like to live with dementia. This allows the team to fully understand the impacts of the disease, resulting limitations, and the reason behind residents’ changes in behavior.
“We understand that no one knows your loved one like you do,” said Jamie Tolliver, Memory Support Coordinator, Ascension Living Sherbrooke Village. “That’s why we encourage our new families to share their loved one’s unique life story. This helps us create a customized plan of care, personalized life-enrichment activities and support for the full family.”
