Piccione Pastry Celebrates Mother’s Day With Inspired Tribute
Nonna Cannoli and Unique Brunch Items Sure to Make Mom Smile

As mothers around the world are celebrated on May 13, Piccione Pastry, St. Louis’ premier pastry shop, honors the woman who inspired it all—Grace Viviano Piccione. Grandmother of Richard Nix, Jr., owner of Piccione Pastry, Grace is in the heart of Piccione’s and its authentic, Italian desserts.
Piccione Pastry is located in the historic Delmar Loop where Grace, affectionately known as “Nonna,” grew up watching the development of Delmar thriving in its early days as a diverse ethnic neighborhood. When Grace married Paul Piccione in the early 1920’s, it was University City & Delmar where they chose to raise their four children and stake their claim to the American dream. For more than a half century Grace was a pioneer entrepreneur in the independent theater business; her movie houses included the infamous Apollo on DeBaliviere & the world famous Varsity on Delmar.
“When we decided to open Piccione Pastry in 2013, we wanted to create an environment where my grandmother’s authentic, Italian recipes would not only be enjoyed but appreciated,” said Richard Nix, Jr., owner and operator of Piccione Pastry. “As Piccione’s continues to evolve, we remember our heritage by honoring her this Mother’s Day.”

As the Shop honors its mother, Piccione’s invites you to treat your mother to a delicious brunch with Piccione’s signature offerings available for purchase along with specialty items served for just this occasion. Available only on Mother’s Day, four brunch items she will love: Biscuits & Gravy with Piccione’s housemade biscuits served with a sausage gravy (single serving $3.75/ double serving $6.75), Egg Biscuit with melted provolone cheese and topped with a bruschetta spread ($4.00/add sausage $4.75), Chicken & Waffles with buttermilk fried chicken and Belgian waffles covered in syrup and whipped butter, served with breakfast potatoes and a side of fresh fruit or arugula salad (single serving $6.75/double serving $10.75). Craving something on the sweeter side? There’s always Piccione’s Bomboloni—yeast based Italian-style doughnuts covered in cinnamon sugar or filled with strawberry jam ($1.50).
And, for a special tribute, Piccione Pastry will offer the “Nonna Cannoli.” Inspired by her two favorite flavors cherry and chocolate, the “Nonna Cannoli” is both traditional and delicious. Piccione’s crispy cannoli shells are filled with its signature cannoli cream mixed with chopped cherries and chocolate pieces.
