President Lewis Reed Announces Plans For Meetings During The Coronavirus Pandemic

Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed announces a plan for members of the Board of Aldermen to conduct their business virtually, while also allowing access by the public and press.

“During this health crisis, we need the Board to be able to meet, appropriate necessary funds and take other actions to ensure that governmental operations can continue,” said Reed.

The Board of Aldermen staff, the Information Technology department and Communications division have worked together to find a solution to meet and comply with the City Charter, State law and Sunshine Law.

Beginning Monday, April 20, all full Board of Aldermen meetings and committee meetings will be held virtually by Zoom virtual conference. The meetings will also be accessible online on YouTube, the City’s website and by phone. As always, every meeting will be recorded and uploaded to the City's YouTube Channel. [www.youtube.com]

All details and information to access each committee meeting will be posted online and on the doors of City Hall. Information will also be on the City’s website and Board of Aldermen webpage.

“Our City employees have worked tirelessly to create a system that works for everyone to be able to move our government forward and help our residents during this global pandemic. For the safety of our staff, members of the Board and the public, it’s important we maintain the orders set forward by the State, City and CDC regarding social distancing and staying home to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” said Reed.

For the safety of Board of Aldermen staff, members and the public, the Board of Aldermen will continue to have limited staffed office hours.
