Speeding SUV Crashes Onto Roof Of St. Louis Home

A resident came home to find an SUV on top of his house Sunday afternoon.

ST. LOUIS, MO — A St. Louis man came home Sunday to find that an SUV had crashed not into his house, but onto his roof, causing extensive damage to the home. Police said the SUV was speeding when it hit an embankment, went airborne and crashed down onto the roof of the house in the 5900 block of Lillian Avenue, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I can see straight through my house," the homeowner told the paper.

Emergency crews worked to rescue the driver, who suffered serious injuries, and remove the vehicle from the roof of the house. The crash reportedly occurred at around 12:40 p.m. Sunday.

Homeowner Bruce Redding said he'd recently paid off the house, which may never be habitable again.
