St. Louis Music Project Looks to Unite Through Faith & Music

"The Kingdom Sessions" record focuses on the complexity, beauty, and necessity of unity.

Russ Mohr, St. Louis-based recording artist and music director at The Journey church, is set to release his first full-length studio album in June, a concept album titled, “The Kingdom Sessions.”

“The Kingdom Sessions” record will officially debut on June 7 with a release show at The Ready Room.

A highly collaborative effort, “The Kingdom Sessions” boasts contributions from 12 different co-writers and over 70 musicians spanning 10 U.S. cities and representing nearly two dozen churches from various denominations and worship traditions. It is co-produced by Grammy, Dove, and Stellar Award-winning producer JR (Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Kenny Latimore) and features appearances from Sho Baraka, Liz Vice, Latifah Alattas of Page CXVI, and Odd Thomas of Beautiful Eulogy. The project also showcases many well-known St. Louis-based talents, including Brian Owens, Kenny DeShields, and We Are Root Mod.

The album addresses themes of faith, community, social justice, love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. It endeavors to celebrate that which is good and beautiful in humanity, while confronting and lamenting that which is broken – all while looking with hope to a better future.

The heart and soul behind “The Kingdom Sessions” record focuses on the complexity, beauty, and necessity of unity. While rooted in a faith-based worldview, the message is widely accessible to all listeners, regardless of religious convictions.

Three singles and corresponding behind-the-scene video episodes will be released prior to the album release date, which is June 14. The Kingdom Sessions will be available to stream or download at kingdomsessions.com and all major digital music outlets.
