In order to streamline its services and increase user-friendliness, OverDrive has announced that it will be retiring the classic OverDrive app and focusing its efforts on Libby as the official app of OverDrive.
If you’re currently using the classic OverDrive app, rest assured that you won’t immediately have to make a change – you will still be able to use it in the following months. However, new users will not be able to download the classic app.

By the end of 2022, OverDrive plans to have most users moved over to Libby. Throughout the year, we’ll be offering more information about Libby and, if you’re currently using the classic OverDrive app, making the switch to Libby. We know that for some of our customers this will be a big change. We want to make sure you can still use OverDrive with confidence so that you can continue to enjoy eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines with ease!
