Here are the top four stories today in St. Louis:
- One man is dead and a teenager is injured after two shootings early Sunday morning. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the first shooting involved a 16-year-old boy in the 5800 block of Ferris Avenue. The second occurred just after 2 a.m. at 5800 West Florissant, where a 60-year-old man was shot in the stomach. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
- Kids in St. Louis' Maplewood neighborhood marched for kindness last week. In a tradition that began five years ago, students at the Maplewood Richmond Heights Early Childhood Center began marching to promote kindness. The kids, after learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington, decided to paint signs and raise awareness. See the kids marching for a cause at the link. (KSDK.com)
- Four St. Louis Starbucks locations have filed paperwork to unionize. Stores in Ladue, Bridgeton, and St. Louis City appealed to the National Labor Relations Board to begin union elections. The stores join nearly 200 other Starbucks locations across the country in filing for unionization. According to workers at the Bridgeton location, the workers want higher pay, benefits, and a voice in store decision-making. (KMOV4)
- A town hall meeting was held by members of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen on Saturday. The meeting focused on how St. Louis residents would like to see the nearly $500 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds spent. Residents who were interviewed said they would like to see redevelopment of depreciated areas in the metro. (KTVI Fox 2 St. Louis)
