Webster Groves House Explodes In Flame, Bomb Squad Investigating

Arson and explosives investigators are still trying to determine exactly what happened.

WEBSTER GROVES, MO — Police say an explosion destroyed a house in Webster Groves late Sunday, but still do not know the cause. The rental property was vacant at the time and no one was injured.

The house is located on East Allison Avenue south of Brentwood Park. Neighbors contacted authorities shortly after midnight, but the house was already burning out of control by the time firefighters arrived. Forty-five minutes later, the fire was out, but very little of the structure was left standing.

Investigators with the St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit are trying to determine the cause of the explosion and subsequent fire.
