Cancelled Relay For Life of Central St. Charles Event Raises Nearly $56,000, Will Host Relay Celebration Event Aug. 10

What was supposed to be “Cancer’s Unlucky Day” turned out to be an unlucky day for the participants of the Relay For Life of Central St. Charles. The Relay event that was scheduled for July 13 at in was cancelled during opening ceremonies due to inclement weather.

Even though the event was cancelled, in just a few hours, more than 40 teams were able to raise more than $10,000, bringing the total raised to nearly $56,000 toward the American Cancer Society.

More than 500 participants had originally signed up for the event. “We found ourselves in an unfortunate situation, and it was a difficult decision to make,” said Ben Prinster, event co-chair. “Ultimately, I believe we made the right call with everyone’s safety in mind, but we plan to finish what we started.”
