Injured Children in Missouri and Kansas Have a New Resource-- New Program from Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys Offers Children Extra Protection Following a Motor Vehicle Accident
Kansas City attorneys James Roswold, Victor Finkelstein, and Heather Lottmann have started No Fee For Kids, a new program in their law firm Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys for the benefit of children who have suffered injuries in a motor vehicle collision in Missouri or Kansas. The No Fee For Kids Program is a unique program for kids 12 and under at the time of the incident.
According to Roswold, for children ages 2 through 14, car crashes are reported as the leading cause of death. Furthermore, motor vehicle accidents are also the primary cause of resulting child disabilities, such as paralysis and brain injuries. “We want to take a lead in helping children injured in an accident,” said Roswold. “Our new No Fee for Kids program offers children and their families the opportunity to incur no attorney’s fees if the case can be settled before a lawsuit is filed.” He noted that the firm will be reimbursed for costs and advanced expenses, such as the cost of obtaining medical records and bills, obtaining reports from medical experts, etc. only if the injured child recovers or a court directs.
According to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA), approximately 250,000 children sustain injuries annually in motor vehicle collisions. In fact, the most common type of accidents causing injury to children involves car accidents. This translates to approximately 700 motor vehicle-related child injuries occurring daily.

Lottmann explained that attorneys generally charge somewhere between 33 and 40% of the total recovery when a child's car accident case is settled with the insurance company before a lawsuit is filed. “Our personal injury attorneys,” she said, “are founders of an injured children's foundation and feel that children are special. If a child's auto accident case can be settled without filing a lawsuit, that child would benefit significantly if not charged an attorney fee.”
