Girl Scout Cookie aficionados, prepare yourselves - it's cookie time again! Today, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri kicks off cookie season with Go! Day, the official start of the annual cookie sale.
Girl Scouts will bundle up and brave the cold to head out and begin taking orders for cookies to raise money to benefit their local Girl Scout troop. The cookies will come in the same eight delicious flavors as last year: Shortbreads, Thanks-A-lot, Lemonades, Shout Out!, Peanut Butter Sandwich and Peanut Butter Patties, as well as perennial favorites Thin Mints and Caramel deLites.
"I'm excited to start selling cookies," said Peyton Hayes, of St. Peters' troop 937. "We can earn money to do fun things and not just sit around."

Troops across eastern Missouri anticipate Go! Day all year, and for good reason -- the annual cookie sale accounts for the funding of many troop and council-run programs throughout the year, including camps, rallies, and various science and techology programs for girls. This year, girls are also collecting cookie donations for USO (United Service Organization).
There are many opportunities to buy your cookies this year. Girl Scouts from troops across eastern Missouri, from St. Louis to north in Putnam Country to south in Ste. Genevieve, will go door-to-door taking initial orders from Saturday, Jan. 21 until Sunday, Feb. 5. Additional orders

will be taken up until Mar. 18. Cookies will be delivered beginning on Feb. 29, and for those who don't place orders, cookie booths will be set up in various locations around eastern Missouri from Feb. 29 until Mar. 18.
All cookies are sold at $3.50 per package. Proceeds from cookie sales stay within the community to benefit local girls. Troops use the money for everything from field trips to community service projects; with these funds, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri can also deliver programs for girls, provide training for adult volunteers and maintain their three local Girl Scout camps.
Through the Girl Scout Cookie program, girls develop five essential life skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. It is the largest girl-led business in the world and generates immeasurable benefits for girls and their communities. Girl
