Area Band Proves Age Is Only A Number
Local band Clockwork, a trio of teenagers aged between 18 and 15, performs at area venues, writes their own music and has a CD.
The musical group Clockwork is an up-and-coming band based in St. Charles County.
Like most unsigned bands, they’re promoting their music, playing local shows and trying to get their name out there. However, Clockwork is unique from other bands due to their age.
The trio is young—two of the musicians are still in high school. Yet this group of adolescents are writing songs and performing at gigs. In fact, one listen makes it hard to believe the group is so young. With Logan Mohler, age 15 on drums, Logan Slone, age 15 on bass and backup vocals and Jordan Slone, age 18 on guitar and lead vocals, the group has a musical maturity beyond their years.

The band has been performing together for a few years and the members have known each other most of their lives. Logan Slone and Logan Mohler became friends in 2003, when the two were in the second grade. Together, they started a band when they were in seventh grade, in 2008. It wasn’t until 2009 that they asked Slone’s older brother Jordan Slone to join the band and the group formed the threesome it is today.
After playing a few shows around town under a couple of different names, the group came up with the band name Clockwork during a "band meeting" at the lunch table at school. The band describes their sound as alternative, part acoustic/part electric, harmonic rock. Their influences are as varied as their own sound, and they’ve been inspired by bands both established and those that are newer to the music world. Clockwork said their main musical influences are Coldplay, Radiohead, The Beatles, Brand New, and MGMT.

Even though the band members are young, they’ve performed at well-known venues in the St. Louis metro area including House of Rock, Cicero’s and Pops. The group will be performing next month in The Grove area.
“The band’s next show is "Rock U Fest" at the Atomic Cowboy on Saturday, September 24,” said band manager Jimmy Manno.
In addition to playing live, the group also has a CD which was released in June. The band has a five-song EP available on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, or directly from the band at one of their shows.
Up next for the band is to continue playing shows in the St. Louis area, as well as expanding their performance area to other cities in the Midwest. The trio is in the process of booking shows in Chicago and Indianapolis, among other cities.
They also hope to return to Nashville, where they recorded their EP, to record a few more tunes in the months to come. Ultimately, they aim to get their songs in front as many potential fans as they can.
“Our goal is to get our music out there in front of as many eyes and ears as possible,” said the band.
