HONEYSUCKLE BASH ON SATURDAY, OCT. 17

Volunteers and Conservation crew team leaders needed for sites in St. Louis County and St. Charles County to help remove invasive plant

Greenway Network, in partnership with the St. Louis Audubon Society and Great Rivers Greenway, will be holding a Honeysuckle Bash on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, starting at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers are invited to come out to help remove invasive honeysuckle at one of three sites in St. Charles County or Creve Coeur County Park in St. Louis County. This non-native honeysuckle is spreading quickly across many of our parks and trails, crowding out Missouri’s native plants. Volunteer efforts are critical to help control this invasive plant in order to enable native species to grow and flourish. Training, supplies, lunch and refreshments will be provided to volunteers.

Those interested in volunteering can choose to work at one of four cleanup sites:

  • Centennial Greenway at Heritage Museum in St. Peters (meet at 1630 Heritage Landing, 63303) map
  • Blanchette Park in the Boschert Greenway in St. Charles (meet at Blanchette Park Pavilion 3) map
  • Creve Coeur County Park in the Centennial Greenway (Meet just east of the Forest ReLeaf Nursery at 2194 Creve Coeur Mill Road, St. Louis, MO 63146) map
  • Dardenne Greenway: Barathaven in Dardenne Prairie (Meet at parking lot adjacent to Barathaven Lake) map

After the cleanup, volunteers will gather at noon at St. Charles County Parks’ Heritage Museum for a barbecue celebration, with music provided by the band Seldom Fed Five.
