Howell Board of Education Kicks Off 2011-12 School Year With Meeting
The Francis Howell BOE is back in action with the first meeting in a month.

After a month away, the Francis Howell Board of Education will be back in session to start the 2011-12 school year.
At 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, July 21, the Board will meet at the District administration building for the first official meeting of the new school year. With the first day of school—Aug. 8—rapidly approaching, the district will get the ball rolling at the meeting.

- The Board will vote on substitute teaching rates for the 2011-12 school year.
- Nine Smartboards, three to Becky-David and six to Daniel Boone Elementary, will be donated—pending Board approval.
- Twenty six purchases more than $7,500 will be voted on. Among the items planned to be purchased are: money for repairs to buildings, new technology equipment, and 150 refurbished iPods to be provided to the paraprofessionals throughout the District to access e-mail, calendars, collect data onAlternative Learning Director students and access special education apps student are using
- After hearing a report on drug use , the Board will seek approval for award of a contract to provide drug testing services.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
