Local Classic Rock Band Has An Eclectic Style, Sound
With several upcoming venues in St. Peters, cover band Two Dollar Pistol sets out to show audiences that they are not your typical rock act.

Anyone looking to enjoy live music in the St. Peters-area can check out rock cover band Two Dollar Pistol. The group specializes in playing a variety of hits from the late 60s to the early 90s.
The rockers officially formed as a band in August of 2010, but most of the members have known each other a lot longer. Their style is eclectic, as they play a little of everything from classic rock to blues.
Guitarist Rob Heady said the group tries to play things that other bands in their genre don’t.

“We try to stay away from what the average cover band plays,” Heady said.
Another thing that sets them apart is that the five member group is unique in that there are three guitarists in their band.

“You don’t typically see bands doing three guitars, but it enhances the sound and we play off of each other,” said Heady.
A close look at their musical influences sums up their style. The group credits musicians ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty and Joe Perry as influential to their sound. The musicians all agree that while Two Dollar Pistol’s sound is heavy, it’s not metal.
Heady said the group loves entertaining and they perform simply for the enjoyment they get from playing.
“Probably the coolest thing about us is that we are five guys that are all grateful to play and that we have the ability to do it,” said Heady.
The group typically plays gigs once a month and right now, that’s the only way to experience their music. Heady said there are plans for a website in the future, once it’s up and running they may have some tracks available for listening.
Ultimately, the group plays for themselves and the crowd. All five band members agree it's really all about having fun.
“If people come out and watch our show, they will have a good time, and that’s what it’s all about, having fun,” Heady said.
The band will be playing some upcoming shows in St. Peters over the next couple of months. This Friday, July 22 they will perform at , located on 235 Jungermann Road. The band takes the stage at 9 p.m.
