Meet the Candidates: Three Candidates Competing to Represent St. Peters Ward 4.

Longtime Alderman Don Aytes will face two challengers for his Ward 4 seat this April. John Durajczyk and Bob Morrison have both stepped up to the plate to run against Aytes.

A request for information was sent out to each of the candidates and this is their response. Candidates are being presented in alphabetical  order.

Candidate for Ward 4 Alderman

Where do you live? 35 Meadow Ridge Dr,   St. Peters, MO.  

What is your current job/position? Air Force Veteran/Korean Conflict. I retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years.  

Relevant Experience: I moved to St. Peters in l982, elected and served as Alderman, Ward 4,  from 1984 to 2002. I retired because city was in good shape, but things changed and residents kept asking, "Why did you retire?" I was encouraged to return to the Board. Since I was re-elected in April 2007 we have had four excellent years. We are now paying off the original Rec-Plex bonds and are saving the residents $503,150.00 by paying them off five years early.

Why are you running? The reason I am running, is because the city is doing well. I want to see that continue, and so do our residents as they say we are headed in the right direction. Our counsel said he gave me a lot  of credit for making the city's recycling program a success. I am also active with the Senior Center— I deliver meals and serve on their board. Each Tuesday I pick up day-old bakery goods for the Senior Center and Sts. Joachim & Ann Care Center. 

I have always been proud to represent the residents of Ward 4. 

What do think you can you bring to this position? I will bring my knowledge and experience of how our city can serve it's residents in the best possible way and still stay fiscally responsible. If you want a true conservative to represent you at city hall then I ask for your support on April 5th, 2011.

Candidate for Ward 4 Alderman

Where do you live? I'm a 32-year resident of the city and also Ward 4.  My wife Nancy and I have resided in Hidden Pines Estates since 1991.  

What is your current occupation/position? I am a small-business owner of a Union shop called Faithfully Yours Apparel & Promotions,  a custom embroidery, apparel decorator and promotional product distributor.  Nancy and I began this business in 1995.

Why are you running? I'm running for the Board of Aldermen because, I believe, we need to continue to adapt to the changing times.   I’m focused on the issues that impact our livelihood in St. Peters:

• Job Creation
• Sensible Business Growth
• Protecting Property Values
• Access to Parks and City Services
• Representation to ALL neighborhoods in Ward 4

Please tell us about one goal you have for this position: The St. Peters Board meets twice per month with two exceptions.   I would like to open an "Alderman is in-office hours" at either City Centre or the Justice Center from 1 p.m.to 5 p.m. each of those two Thursdays per month.  I would invite residents in to express concerns or ask questions.

I'm not a career politician.  I bring years of business and practical life experiences to the table to serve my community.
