βWe have seen an increase in speeds along this section of roadway,Β primarily due to the improvements made to Route 40/61 as the departmentΒ upgraded the corridor Β in St. Charles County to interstate status,β saidΒ Jim Gremaud, St. Charles County area engineer. βRaising the speed limitΒ helps us maintain the continuity of our interstate system, and prepares theΒ way for an expected approval to officially redesignate the portion of RouteΒ 40/61 between Interstate 270 in St. Louis and I-70 in St. Charles asΒ Interstate 64.β
