Rascals Report: League-Best Rascals Start Second Half With Wins

Sporting a 35-14 record, the River City Rascals are the top team in the Frontier League.

Looking Back

Riding a four-game winning streak, the Rascals have picked up more games in the Frontier League's West Division. With an incredbile .714 winning percentage—tops in the Frontier League, River City now has a four-game lead in the West Division. 

  • Sunday, July 10: Won 6-2 against the Lake Erie Crushers

Looking Ahead

After the All-Star break, the Rascals get right back into the action. The Rascals returned post-break on July 15 and won't have another day off until Aug. 1. This week, River City will have four cracks at the Southern Illinois Miners, the top challenger to the Rascals in the West Division.

  • Outfielder Chad Maddox picked up the 10th double of the season on Saturday. The double was the 67th of his career, a new franchise record.
  • Designated hitter Stephen Holdren is third in the Frontier League with 12 homers and third in RBIs with 44. 
  • Outfielder Jason Patton is 6-for-10 in the last week. He leads the Rascals with a .361 batting average. 
  • Pitcher Josh Lowey threw seven scoreless innings on July 15. He's 5-2 with a 2.55 ERA on the year.

Who’s Not

Some Rascals, but not many, have had trouble getting things going after four days off. 

  • Joash Brodin has gone 1-for-11 in the last seven days. 
  • Bobby Burk is hitting .111 (1-for-9) in the last week.
  • Pitcher Jason Pankau gave up four earned runs in one inning of work on July 16.
