Wehmer added the group meetings are not only about business, they also touch on issues such as balancing family and work life. The group hosts speakers and sometimes the organization will have a round table discussion at their meetings.

“We have speakers come in for lunch once a month and discuss things affecting young professionals, things such as social media, different ways to grow your business and networking,” said Wehmer

There is no age limit on who may join the Young Professionals, one simply need be a member of the Chamber of Commerce first. Additionally, there is no cost to join the Young Professionals.

Wehmer said he is often asked what the age range is within the Young Professionals and most members are under 35, but all ages are welcome. He added that while there is no age limit, most in the group plan on having 20 to 25 years in business before retiring.

Wehmer said the group was started as a way to network, meet others within the Chamber and provide support for career, business and family life.

“Everyone already has their own groups and sometimes it’s difficult for someone to go into that environment, our group gives someone a way to ease into that position, and allows them to network within the Chamber,” he said.

Additionally, those who may be unsure if the St. Peters Young Professionals are a right fit for them may see what the group is all about before joining.

“If someone wants to come to a meeting to see what we’re about, they’re welcome to come to one or two meetings without joining to check it out first,” Wehmer said.

The Young Professionals meets the second Tuesday of every month from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Peters Chamber of Commerce, located at 1236 Jungermann Road. For more information contact the St. Peters Chamber of Commerce at 636-447-3336 or visit their website.
