Act II Theater Donates Money to Michael J. Fox Foundation

Theatergoers donate more $1,800 to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The ACTΒ IIΒ Theater donated more than $1,800 to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in late January.

Donations were collected during the run of the recent musicalΒ Nunsense,Β by Dan Goggins. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today.Β Β 

Landon Shaw, director of Nunsense, suggestedΒ ACTΒ IIΒ Theater perform an outreach program, and the Board ofΒ ACTΒ IIΒ agreed it was time to give back in some small way.Β

The "Sisters" collected donations after each and everyΒ performance of Nunsense at the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre, in St. Peters, Missouri and generous theater guests donated $1,856.62 to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Thanks to the Brin Wojcicki Challenge, the donation was matched, making it $3,663.24.Β 

ACTΒ IIΒ Community Theater plans to make this an ongoing practice, and has already chosen JDRF, a leader in the search for an end to type 1 diabetes, as the recipient of collections during the run of .Β

ACTΒ IIΒ Community Theater, based in St. Peters, Missouri,Β is an independent, non-profit organization comprised entirely of volunteers.

Steel Magnolias, by Robert HarlingΒ and directed by Melissa Boyer, will be performed Feb. 10, to Feb. 12 and Feb. 17 to Feb. 19.Β Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and matinees are at 2 p.m. A

All performances are at the , 1 St Peters Centre Blvdβ€”onΒ Mexico Road just west of the Mexico Road/Jungermann Intersection.
