The Daily Dose: The Columbus Day Edition

The Daily Dose is a look at the weather, what you may have missed and what's coming up on St. Peters Patch. This is the Oct. 10, 2011 edition.

I remember Columbus Day of my freshman year of college.

One of my new good friends was from Illinois and informed me that Columbus Day wasn't just a day without mail. Instead, for them, it was Β day without school. I always had schoolβ€”just like the Fort Zumwalt kids. I was stunned at being deprived a day without class.Β

Now, as an adult, I'm OK with it. My childhood of going to school on this day toughened me up and allowed me to be able to work today. I hope the same holds true for the rest of you.Β
