Crestwood Cage Fighting Draws a Sellout Crowd

Shamrock Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) of Crestwood hosted an event at the Stratford Inn in Fenton Saturday. It was a sellout for the 14 fights.

MMA or cage fighting came to the U.S. from Japan in 1993 and is regulated in most states today. It draws crowds like the boxing rings of the 1900s, to watch the combination of wrestling, martial arts, punches, kicks, grappling and more. Wikipedia refers to aspects of it as "ground and pound." Some protective gear is allowed and matches are divided by weight classes and gender.
