Crestwood Elementary Teacher Surprised With $1,000 in School Supplies

Crestwood Elementary School first grade teacher Wendy DuPree received a surprise visit from OfficeMax on Oct. 1, when representatives from the Crestwood store presented her with $1,000 in school supplies and a brand new desk chair, as part of the seventh annual β€œA Day Made Better” national school advocacy program.

β€œI am honored and humbled,” DuPree said. β€œI am thankful for and appreciate (principal) Jodi Meese and (retired principal) Scott Taylor for nominating me, and many thanks to OfficeMax for their very generous donations, as well.Β  It is a privilege to be a part of the Lindbergh Schools family.”

DuPree is one of 1,000 teachers nationwide who have been nominated by their principals for their extraordinary efforts in the classroom.

β€œI am extremely proud of Wendy for her hard work and dedication to the education profession, as well as to the students of Crestwood Elementary,” Meese said. β€œShe is well deserving of this award.”

The goal of β€œA Day Made Better” is to erase teacher-funded classrooms. OfficeMax Goodworks has partnered with nonprofit organizationΒ AdoptAClassroom.orgΒ to reward teachers throughout the country.

β€œIt’s the best day for OfficeMax,” Crestwood OfficeMax manager Jayne Marking said. β€œIt’s our most favorite day.”
