Community Corner

Effort by State , County, Crestwood , Sunset and all of their supporting entities.

Think bigger than the past . The Plaza has  the  area  needed  and  more  available , it is located  on  the  most  historic  highway  in  the  country , close enough to interstate  highways  44  and  270 and  merely  suffered  from  poor  management  and  promotion .  Money  never  put  back  in  by  retailers  to  infrastructure , that  will  eventually  occur  to  any  shopping  area  if  allowed .  Location , location , location  is  always  the  key  to  any  development .  Opinions  of  why  Crestwood  Plaza  is  bad  stand  at  the  back  of  the  room  and  sit  down .  Come  forward  all  positive  and  creative  minds  to  overcome  the  minor  details  of  building  a  shopping  mega  center  that  people  will  choose  over  sitting  at  their  computer  to  buy  something  on  Amazon .  Does  the  area  have  the  needed  demographics  of  income  , spendable  wealth etc..?  yes  . What  is  the  potential  market  area  if  advertised  properly . Crestwood , Sunset  Hills  ,  Webster , Kirkwood , Glendale , St. Louis Hills , Fenton , Afton , Concord  and  any  area  further  away  if  parking  is  easier  than  say  West County . Manchester Rd. maze avoided in plan .  If  government  is  in  the  group  at  the  back  of  the  room  trying  to  kill  growth , ignore  them . You  the  people  control  the  destiny  of  what  Crestwood  will  look  like  in  20  years .  I  challenge  the  art  and  business  teachers  of  Lindbergh  High  School  to  use  the  creative  minds  of  their  students  to  begin  this  communities  drafted  plans  for  this  specific  area  that  they  currently  live  near  and  hopefully  will  not  move  away  from  if  it  ends  up  looking  like  what  they  want  and  envision .  This  is  a  story  board  that  is  seen  in  many  projects  and  depending  on  the  amount  of  capital  reached  for  , a  result  will  come  out  of  the  goal .  I  suggest  to  you,  do  you  want  to  envision  what  you  want  the  area  from  Watson  & Sappington  to  and  beyond  the  Grant's  Walking  Trail   to   like  based  off  closed  down  empty  parking  lots  OR  would  you  like  development  meetings  to  begin  with  envisioned  drawings  from  the  minds  of  the  people  you  hope  will  be  patronizing  the  area  in  10  to  20  years .  I  am  sure  such  an  experience  will  be  one  of  the  most  remembered  by  the  students  and  as  practical  as  teaching  them  to  balance  a  check  book .  That  coming  right  after  the  how  should  Crestwood  Plaza  be  re-designed  , re-invented  and  re-branded .  It  is  very  possible !
