Proceeds Benefit the Pediatric Dental Residency Program at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

Saint Louis University and Cardinal Glennon are partnering to create a Pediatric Dental Residency Program to help the underinsured, who are most affected with dental diseases. The program will provide full coverage for emergent patients and will assist the underserved communities of St. Louis. When fully implemented, 365 day coverage will be offered for inpatient consults, surgical procedures and outpatient routine care.

The program’s primary focus will be educating dentists to serve in the specialty of pediatric dentistry, where there is tremendous community need in the St. Louis area. Currently, the majority of existing Danis Pediatric Center patients are covered under Medicaid. Clinical services will be accommodated by six available treatment stations located at the Saint Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education.

In order to successfully implement and sustain the program, equipment, including operating room hand pieces, drills, dental carts, and other tools, are imperative. Finally, the program will further both Saint Louis University and Cardinal Glennon in their shared mission of education, research and service.
