Laumeier Sculpture Park Debuts New Exhibition, Redesigned Museum Shop

Exhibition explores ways home is meaningful to one's identity.

Saturday is a big day at , as the park is debuting both a new exhibition and the redesign of their museum shop.

Camp Out: Finding Home in an Unstable World, looks at ways in which the dream home has imploded over the past 30 years. New home forms have taken over, and the artists explore the dilemma of finding place in a distended and technological environment.

According to the Laumeier website, each of the artists in Camp Out—both those whose works are expressed outdoors and those whose works take form inside—touches upon an element of life that is both meaningful by itself and also part of a larger whole. The dichotomy between first and third worlds, suburban and urban, urban sprawl versus urban planning is explored. The works in the show animate Laumeier’s spaces so that they become an active laboratory for questioning, not just a passive oasis for contemplation.
