Lindbergh Revamps Website with Parents in Mind

Lindbergh School District officials said Tuesday they believe a revamped website will keep parents more informed about school happenings.

The website—www.lindbergh.k12.mo.us—is now easier to navigate and more modern, Lindbergh spokesperson Beth Cross told the board of education during its meeting at the district’s Early Childhood Education building Tuesday.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Cross said. “It’s very much improved and much easier to find what you are looking for.”

Cross and other staff members revamped the site using feedback from two focus groups: one comprised of parents and another with teachers.

Those focus groups were essential in prioritizing the material on the site, Cross said.

With the groups’ feedback on the site, the district was able to create “more intuitive” tabs for visitors. For example, the tab for parents includes information for student transportation, meal menus and early release dates.

The site also features stories, alerts, photo slideshows and links to the district’s social media outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter. It utilizes tools offered by Google, which allowed an upgrade to the district’s calendar and search options.

The site is a vital tool for communicating with parents, Lindbergh Superintendent Jim Simpson said, and it showcases the district’s schools and teachers.

“They are so important because a vast majority of our students’ parents use our websites to learn what is happening in the district,” Simpson said.

The district has received lots of positive feedback and will continue to improve the site, Cross said. Staff members will continue to monitor the number of visits each web page receives to see what parents and other visitors are drawn toward.

“This is a big first step but is not an endpoint,” Cross said. “It’s so important that the website is up-to-date. It will remain a priority.”
