Lindbergh Winter Guard Takes Second in Midwest Competition

This was the first year of the high school winter guard.

Year one proved to be a success for winter guard. They finished second at the Midwest Regional Championships in Springfield out of 16 guards in their class. One hundred twenty seven guards from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas and Oklahoma competed.

Winter guard coordinator Sheryl Silverberg said in a statement that the LHS winter guard began this year "with a purpose of extending the color guard curriculum throughout the year and helping students maintain the skills they developed during marching band season."

During the first season as a competing unit, Lindbergh was promoted to a higher class twice, due to participating in three local competitions. Scoring higher than the promotion score for their current class, those scores were used to seed the Midwest Regionals. First place scores at Eureka and Hillsboro allowed them to move to their current Scholastic B class.
